Norma

Creative workshop

Norma is a creative workshop for young women and transgender people aged 18–25 who suffer from mental health challenges. The project is run by Forum Skill with the aim of preventing, countering and addressing the alienation that can affect this target group. We strive to create a meaningful and real workplace focused on empowerment, strength, creativity and the individual’s resources. We aim to spread knowledge about mental health and challenge prejudices. We want to bridge the gaps between education, healthcare and government agencies and create a positive platform for the person behind the diagnosis.

Norma started in October 2014. Activities take place in a fantastic venue in Gothenburg, Monday through Friday, for about four hours a day.

Norma is a Latin word, meaning “role model, pattern” as well as “Northerner”.

Marilyn Monroe, who lived with mental illness, was born Norma.

The name Norma also symbolizes the act of changing norms and questioning the very concept of “normal.”
